Aloha and welcome to Kehulili O Kailani
(The Sparkle of the Heavenly Sea)
After years of instruction and dancing we have teamed together to offer hula and other dances of Polynesia to the wahine (women – young and old) and keiki wahine (little ones) of Encinitas!
Our mission is to pass on the aloha spirit we both received from our kumu hula, Ginger “Keahi” Allen in a non-competitive, yet committed halau (school). We hope you will join us in continuing our journey of learning and sharing that began when we both were “Kehulili O Keahi”. Join us as we pass on our love and appreciation of the Hawaiian (and other Polynesian) culture(s), language, and dance.
Linda “Leimomi” Nelson is a life-long Encinitas resident and began dancing hula at the age of five. She is married to her high school ku’uipo and has two children; Blaine and Leah, also a dancer. Only slightly shorter than her professional career in early childhood education, she has been teaching hula for over twenty years.
Trudi “Luana” Saltamachio, also a native Encinitan, began with hula later in life at age eleven and has been dancing ever since. She works at living out the spirit of aloha with her four keiki (two dancers so far) and drummer/teacher-hubby, Alan. She is a credentialed teacher and school counselor and has worked with kids from K-12. Her instruction is with keiki and beginning adults.
All our Aloha,
Leimomi (Auntie Linda)
and
Luana (Auntie Trudi)
